Artists-in-Residence Showcase
2023-2024
Our Learning Hub is home to an Artist-in-Residence program for BIPOC artists and makers who use recycled or upcycled materials in their work.
For three months between July 2023 – March 2024, artists Sonia Chow, Omo Iserhienrhien and Azadeh Monzavi utilized the Learning Hub as their studio. During their residencies, the artists were given access to the Learning Hub and gallery spaces, the library, equipment and materials from our Reuse Program, as well as an honorarium and materials budget.
As artists-in-residence, Chow, Iserhienrhien and Monzavi engaged with the Textile Museum community by conducting Sustainable Textile Teach-Ins, workshops, artist talks, and roundtable discussions. As a result of their residencies, collective and individual narratives were woven together, culminating in artworks that fuse together personal stories, ancestral reckonings, and community collaboration.
Our Artists-in-Residence program is made possible in part with the support of the Chawkers Foundation.
Free entry.
Showcase runs until June 29, 2024.
