Sustainable Textile Teach-in: Mending and Repair with Works-In-Progress

Learn basic techniques for mending and repairing inspired by Japanese Boro patching and Sashiko embroidery techniques as well as traditional mending methods with textile artists Marnie Saskin and Tanya Murdoch of Works-In-Progress collective. 

Please prepare the following:  

  • Scrap fabric or clothing you’d like to repair plus scrap fabric you can use for patching 
  • Scissors (ideally fabric scissors, but any kind will do)  
  • A needle and thread, preferably in assorted colours 
  • While you do not need a Zoom account to participate, consider downloading the app on your device:  zoom.us 

 

All skill levels are welcome. Class size is limited, registration is required. You will receive an email with the Zoom meeting access link prior to the event.
