Crochet Moon Bags Workshop (Intermediate)

Saturday, May 2 | 1-4 PM
$40 | General
$30 | Textile Museum Members

Facilitated by Daria McGuire, this crochet workshop invites participants to transform a classic technique, the granny square, into a functional moon bag. Designed for crocheters with foundational skills (such as basic stitches and increases), this session focuses on advancing those skills toward creating a functional piece.

Participants will explore how simple granny squares can be constructed, joined, and shaped into a bag, with an emphasis on clean finishing and practical construction methods.

Participants will learn how to:
  1. Construct a bag using four granny squares
  2. Join granny squares using an easy, effective stitching method
  3. Finish the bag by crocheting around joined squares
  4. Create closures, including crocheted loops with buttons and/or attaching a zipper
  5. Make and securely attach straps

Previous crochet experience is required. All materials are provided.

For any questions or accessibility accommodations, please contact Isabelle Sain (isain@textilemuseum.ca).
