An Important Update About COVID-19
The Textile Museum of Canada is closed temporarily as of 5 pm on March 13, 2020
To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the Textile Museum of Canada is temporarily closed to the public, effective 5pm Friday March 13 until further notice. Currently, all scheduled events and programs are postponed.
Our priority is to protect and support our visitors, staff, and volunteers. Although there have been no confirmed COVID-19 cases associated with the Museum, we are committed to doing our part in reducing the risk of spreading the virus. Due to the rapidly changing nature of the situation, we are not announcing a re-opening date at this time and will provide updates on our website and social media accounts. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause. This decision is in the best interest of the communities we serve. We will continue to monitor the situation daily and listen to the advice of the Ontario Ministry of Health, Toronto Public Health, and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Our staff will continue working in the Museum and/or remotely as required. Feel free to contact us.
In the meantime, we invite the public to explore the Museum’s online resources. We’re proud to offer virtual access to our entire collection; 15,000 objects from 200 regions worldwide spanning 2,000 years are always at your fingertips.
We thank you for your support.

I see on Facebook that you are sewing masks. Could I volunteer to make masks as per your specifications and donate them to the museum?

Hi Wendy!
We’re not making masks as part of any currently organized Museum activity but many of our volunteers are independently working on mask making. If you’re interested in making masks, I would check out The Sewing Army on Facebook or on their website: https://thesewingarmy.com/. They are organizing mask making for frontline workers across North America!
