This beginner friendly hands-on workshop designed for the weaving curious and those starting out on their weaving journey. Join us for an evening weaving with nature with Isabelle Sain. Learn how to weave natural materials foraged like branches, grasses and leaves into beautifully textured weavings! In this hands-on workshop, members will experiment with the textures, colours and forms that emerge when weaving with nature. By incorporating textiles and materials directly from nature, we are not only constructing a unique piece of woven cloth but also highlighting the material and ecological connections between nature and textiles.
All materials will be provided for the workshop through the Textile Museum’s ReUse program. Using repurposed materials both explore sustainable textile practices and foster unique artistic narratives. In this workshop we will explore how objects from nature can be, the fundamentals to weaving and setting up your own loom from cardboard to sew it together.
No prior experience is required, and materials are provided. This class provides a supportive, beginner-friendly environment to build a foundation in weaving!
For any questions or accessibility accommodations, please contact Isabelle Sain (isain@textilemuseum.ca).
This workshop is presented in recognition of the Textile Museum of Canada’s longstanding partnership with the Ontario Arts Council.
