Punch-Needle Tufting Workshop with Legin Knits
Inspired by the tufted artwork featured in Simone Elizabeth Saunders: u.n.i.t.y., create your own piece of tufted art using a punch-needle!
Pricing: General $70, Supporters $60
Your instructor, Legin, first learned to crochet from a rastaman in Trinidad 25+ years ago so he could make hats for himself. He later turned this skill into a business. Legin Knits is a company that specializes in crochet – creating one of a kind, handcrafted items through fashion and art for people and places.
He has expanded his artistry over the years to include silk screen printing, drawing, graphic design, sewing, tufting and punch needle. His commitment to encouraging others to be the source of their own creativity and use it in their daily lives, has evolved into a passion for teaching meditative workshops.
In this two-hour class, you will learn the basics of hand-tufting. You can draw your own design, or use one of our design templates. We will supply all materials that you can take home, including a punch-needle, so you can continue tufting long after the class has ended.
In the interests of community safety, we strongly encourage you to wear a mask to attend.
