Papel Picado Making Workshop (Community)

Join us for a vibrant and engaging Papel Picado Workshop, where you’ll dive into the rich history and intricate art of traditional Mexican paper cutting. Facilitated by members of the Dia de los Muertos Collective, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to create beautiful papel picado designs that will become a part of our upcoming exhibition “Beyond the Vanishing Maya: Voices of a Land in Resistance.”

Workshop Overview:

Discover the origins and practices of papel picado in Mexico. Learn about the tools and motifs used in this traditional art form and explore its connection to our upcoming exhibition, “Beyond the Vanishing Maya: Voices of a Land in Resistance.” Experience a step-by-step journey through the creation of your own papel picado.

Contribute to the Community Art Piece:
As a special feature of this workshop, participants are invited to contribute their creations to a larger papel picado banner. This collaborative piece will be displayed as part of our upcoming exhibition. Each participant’s unique designs will come together to form a vibrant and meaningful banner, reflecting the community’s creativity and connection to the exhibition themes.

Please Note: This workshop is open to community members.
