Online Workshop: Fabric Block Printing with Susha Suresh

Learn block making and printing on textiles with artist Susha Suresh. This workshop will introduce participants to traditional and contemporary Indian block printing techniques, practices and materials.
A workshop material kit can be ordered separately and shipped to participants in Canada if registered by February 8. The cost of the materials kit plus shipping and handling within Canada is $20. Order through our online shop HERE.
Workshop materials kit includes:
- 3 pieces of cotton fabric ( off-white or white) 14″ x 14″
- 2 colours of fabric paint ( approximately 35 ml each)

Other items you will need to provide:
- Brushes, rollers or a sponge to apply the paint ( these can be purchased at a dollar store or you can use existing materials at home)
- Knives or cutters to carve the block ( it is pretty soft, cuts like butter)
- Paper to practice printing
Beginner to Intermediate level. Class size is limited to 20, registration is required. You will receive an email with the Zoom meeting access link prior to the event.
Susha Suresh is the designer and founder of Advika, a clothing brand based in Chennai, India and is an Assistant professor at the Department of Textile Design at one of the pioneering design institutions in India. She works closely with artisans and craftspeople to develop designs for wooden blocks and printed textiles used for apparel and houseware. Suresh’s design language is inspired by Indian art, architecture and culture.
