Learn the ancient technique of Nålebinding with Isabelle Sain. Nålebinding is a looping technique used to produce textiles with a needle and a thread. The technique involves passing the full length of the thread through each loop. In our session, together we will learn the looping technique and its significance while also expanding the technique to make a 3D form like a water bottle holder or plant potholder.

No prior experience is required, and materials are provided. This class provides a supportive, beginner-friendly environment to build a strong foundation in Nålebinding.

What we’ll cover:

  1. Historical significance of Nålebinding
  2. Threading and setting up
  3. Nålebinding looping technique
  4. Turning the looping into a 3D form

Please contact Isabelle Sain (isain@textilemuseum.ca) for any questions or accessibility accommodations.
