Knitting Workshop with Naomi Daryn Boyd

Naomi Daryn Boyd (they/them) will teach beginner knitting techniques! This session is the perfect way to start your knitting practice, with support from your fellow makers.

This workshop will take place on Saturday, March 30, from 2-5 pm, in-person at the Textile Museum of Canada.
Pay-What-You-Wish (you will be prompted for a donation at check-out).

Suggested project:
Create your own beautiful pride flag to reflect your personal identity. The small size makes them perfect to wear as a badge, on a lanyard, or sewn as a patch onto clothing. Participants are also welcome to design a unique flag!

You will learn:

  • Cast on/off
  • Knit and purl stitches
  • Colour changes
  • Yarn embellishments

This is a beginner workshop open to all ages and abilities; All materials will be provided.

About the Artist

Naomi Daryn Boyd (they/them) is a multidisciplinary designer, maker, collaborator, and facilitator from Tkaronto/Toronto. They have a background in Industrial Design and Social Practice, and are passionate about all things textiles. Naomi has recently completed a Master’s of Design with a focus on textiles and craft as a sustainable tool and product of community-based learning. Interests include: impromptu skill sharing sessions, crosswords, sports, and mending sweaters.
