Circles: Weaving Interconnections Workshop with Paulina Constancia

General: $35
Member: $25

Join us for an inspiring session that proves every thread, no matter how small, can play a part in creating something beautiful. Let your leftover threads shine and connect in a creative celebration of reuse and artistic expression!

Inspired by the concentric shapes and themes of interconnectedness in the work of Samuel Nnorom, currently on exhibit at the Textile Museum of Canada, this workshop celebrates the art of repurposing through thoughtful design and creative play.

Using ORTs (Old Raggedy Threads) and thrifted materials, participants will transform leftover threads and mesh fabric into stunning mixed-media creations mounted on an 8×8” stretched canvas. Explore how forgotten materials can inspire creativity, giving them a new purpose and voice.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Arrange ORTs and fabric pieces into captivating circular designs, drawing inspiration from Samuel Nnorom’s work.

  • Mount mesh jersey material onto a canvas for a textured base.
  • Combine layering, stitching, and composition techniques to craft meaningful art that reflects interconnectedness.

What to bring:

  • A stretched 8×8” artist canvas.
  • Your own ORTs (optional—extra threads will be provided).

All other materials, including mesh fabric, needles, and glue, will be supplied.
