Hop aboard for a special Summer art excursion beginning at the Textile Museum of Canada in Toronto and travelling to the Aga Khan Museum.
This day provides all participants with full access to six exhibitions. Your day will start off at the Textile Museum of Canada, providing access to two collection-based exhibitions and a brand new contemporary fashion show. Made By Many: 50 Years of the Textile Museum of Canada is an opportunity to reflect on the Museum’s curatorial direction throughout the past 50 years. Unfolding across galleries and over 30 exhibitions, you will trace the Museum’s evolution from the present day back to its beginnings in the 1970s. As an extension of that, Taking Shape: Recent Acquisitions showcases a selection of artworks the Museum added to its permanent collection between 2023 and 2025. On our third floor, Always in Fashion showcases an immersive exploration of Indigenous design languages and their transformative impact on the fashion landscape of the lands we call Canada and the United States. A guided tour of Always in Fashion is included with this visit.
At the Aga Khan Museum, participants will experience three exhibitions that explore identity, memory, and the role of play across cultures. Hassan Hajjaj’s La Salle de Gym des Femmes Arabes (The Arab Women’s Gym), installed throughout the Aga Khan Park, is a vibrant photographic series celebrating women in sports while challenging stereotypes and highlighting the complexity of contemporary Muslim identities. In the Museum Collections Gallery, the installation Hayv Kahraman: Nabog transforms personal memories of childhood in Iraq into a powerful contemporary artwork that reflects themes of generosity, community, and belonging. In the second floor, Game On! explores the universal appeal of games through artworks, historical objects, and interactive stories that reveal how play has connected people, inspired creativity, and fostered community across centuries and cultures.
Please note that this Art Bus will be take place on a standard yellow school bus. There are no washrooms on the bus; however, both institutions will provide access to fully accessible washrooms.
