Book of HoursPatrick Mahon
In 2002, artist Patrick Mahon was invited to spend time researching textiles in the Museum’s collection. As a response to his extended encounters with textile objects, Mahon developed a site-specific installation entitled Book of Hours. He was particularly fascinated by the paisley or “boteh” motif, which he used to explain his thinking about the relationship between icons and the subject of time, and their recurrence across cultures.
