Saturday, May 2 | 1-4 PM
$40 | General
$30 | Textile Museum Members
Facilitated by Daria McGuire, this crochet workshop invites participants to transform a classic technique, the granny square, into a functional moon bag. Designed for crocheters with foundational skills (such as basic stitches and increases), this session focuses on advancing those skills toward creating a functional piece.
Participants will explore how simple granny squares can be constructed, joined, and shaped into a bag, with an emphasis on clean finishing and practical construction methods.
Participants will learn how to:
- Construct a bag using four granny squares
- Join granny squares using an easy, effective stitching method
- Finish the bag by crocheting around joined squares
- Create closures, including crocheted loops with buttons and/or attaching a zipper
- Make and securely attach straps
Previous crochet experience is required. All materials are provided.
For any questions or accessibility accommodations, please contact Isabelle Sain (isain@textilemuseum.ca).
