Online Workshop: Rug Hooking with Heather Goodchild

General $50, Members $45, Students $40 *SOLD OUT*

Join artist Heather Goodchild as she demonstrates and discusses rug hooking. She will be covering basic techniques, finishing, material options, tools, dyeing, history, design and how she integrates rug hooking into a contemporary art practice.  During the workshop, participants will start a small project and will gain the basic skills to finish in their own time. Questions are welcome and participants are encouraged to share progress on their project during the workshop.

Heather Goodchild (Toronto, Ontario) has exhibited her multidisciplinary work since 2002 across Canada and abroad. She has an ongoing interest in how work contributes to well-being, and in the levelling of the perceived hierarchy of artistic disciplines. A fascination with objects—how they are made, their real or imagined histories, and the reasons we keep, collect, and revere them—inform her creative process.

Materials will be provided and are included in the cost of the workshop.  Rug hooking kits will be mailed out prior to the workshop day.

Beginner to Intermediate level. Class size is limited to 15, registration is required.

You will receive an email with the Zoom meeting access link prior to the event.
