Online Workshop: Phulkari Embroidery with Rafia Shafiq

Join artist Rafia Shafiq to learn about Phulkari, the traditional Punjabi embroidery technique of Pakistan and India.  Phulkari means flower work, from the words phul (flower) and kari (work). Participants will not only practice embroidering traditional floral motifs, but will also learn about the history and heritage of Phulkari craft. 

Rafia Shafiq is a craft artist based in Oakville, working on reviving the craft of Phulkari. She has conducted various workshops across the Greater Toronto Area including Art Gallery of Mississauga, Peel Art Gallery, Museum & Archives, Sheridan College and Contemporary Textile Studio Co-op. Her work has been exhibited at multiple craft shows including Burlington, Mississauga and Oakville. Currently, she is teaching Phulkari embroidery through Zoom and taking custom orders via direct message @dhaga.art on Instagram  

Materials will be provided and are included in the workshop price. Shipping and handling costs are not included. Click on Ship to Home option to add shipping to your order. Otherwise, you have the option of picking up your materials during Museum hours of operation.
