D. A. R. Proyectos: Weaving the Light
View the Weaving the Light window installation by Peruvian design studio D.A.R. Proyectos at the ground floor of the Museum this summer. Take a closer look at their design process with a hands-on display also on view at the Textile Learning Hub .
Weaving the Light is a lighting collection handwoven in the Andes using a hybrid crochet technique that integrates transparent plastic electroluminescent wire to shape a glowing textile object. D.A.R. explores the intersection of traditional, vanishing skills and hi-tech materials by approaching the technology as a foundational element of the textile itself.
This installation is part of the DesignTO Festival.
