CANCELLED: Art Bus Tour: Double Vision and Qautamaat

Join us for an in-person gallery hop touring exhibitions at both the Textile Museum of Canada and at the Art Gallery of Guelph! 

Start the afternoon at the Textile Museum with a tour of Double Vision, an exhibition that profiles three ground-breaking Inuit artists from Qamani`tuaq (Baker Lake), Nunavut—Jessie Oonark and her daughters, Janet Kigusiuq and Victoria Mamnguqsualuk —and shines a light on a highly distinctive art form called nivinngajuliaat (wall hangings).  

Then, take a chartered bus to the Art Gallery of Guelph to tour ᖃᐅᑕᒫᑦ | Qautamaat. Meaning both “everyday” and “every day,” Qautamaat speaks to Inuit first, through ideas, images, and objects evoking aspects of daily life and relationships that are distinctly Inuk. Bringing together work from the Art Gallery of Guelph’s collection with works of contemporary Inuit artists and makers, this exhibition points to how the patterns of the “Inuit everyday” are inscribed and reinscribed over days and years, seasons and generations, always evolving and learning from what came before. 

At 4 pm, the bus will head back to Toronto, dropping participants off at the Textile Museum. Estimated travel time is 1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions. 

Please note that the bus is a chartered school bus. There will be no A/C or washrooms on board. It has bench seating, with 2 persons per bench and no overhead storage for bags.
