Introduction to Needle Felted Forms (Beginner)

Thursday, April 30 | 5-8 PM
$40 | General
$30 | Textile Museum Members

Join us for a lovely evening of making and learning needle felting with Andrea Idrobo. Create a needle felted form by manipulating wool into a small sculptural felt in this one-session workshop!

This is a beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop that will provide you with the basics of needle felting through the making of a personalized felted object. We will demonstrate needle felting tools and simple sculpting techniques which are easy to practice at home. Students will work on their own felted sculpture which can be made into keychains, ornaments, jewellery, or suspended sculptures. We will work slowly and step by step, focusing on simple shapes, texture, colour and play.

No previous experience is required; everyone will leave with a finished piece and the confidence to keep experimenting on their own.

Skills and techniques:

  1. Participants will learn how to shape and attach wool using felting needles
  2. Creating forms through wool manipulation
  3. Adding small details using thread and beads to customize their felted sculpture
