Ed takes one side of the drawer and you the other and you lift it back into its space in the counter. As you slide the drawer in place something at the back prevents it from going all the way in, so you remove the drawer, lay it carefully on the floor again, and put your hand in to see what is back there.
You grasp a small round object the size of a cherry. It looks like something you were learning about in class before this trip to the museum - a whorl that fits on a spindle stick for spinning cotton or wool into yarn.
