back in time adventure

Alpaca yarn

You and Aji walk back to the weavers and spinners, who rush to greet you and to hug Aji. They thank you for taking the fish to the caravan and pull the beautiful soft alpaca yarn out of the bag that Aji saved for them.

On a cloth there are several ceramic bowls and gourds filled with stewed beans, seasoned with chili peppers. Everyone begins to eat, and the mother hands you a bowl, inviting you to share food with them. As you eat Aji entertains the group with tales of his exciting trip over mountains, across the high plateau, over more mountains, then down into the jungle where the traders acquired brightly coloured parrot feathers and exotic fruits and nuts.

You are amazed to think of so many llamas traveling so far and coming all the way back to this beach. Aji says the llamas must leave soon to return to the altiplano, because it is too hot for them here. He explains that they are healthier when they can breathe the thinner, drier air of the plateau between the mountain ranges.
