WHO: Chancay culture

WHERE: Central coast, Peru

WHEN: Late Intermediate Period, A.D. 1100 -1450

WHAT: This Chancay vessel depicts a man holding a small bowl or a cup between his hands. Very little is known about Chancay cultural and social habits but it is probably safe to say that the vessel depicts an important personage. He is depicted with body decoration, wears ear spools and a crown-like headdress.

HOW: Mould-made with hand-modelled details; painted with black, brown and white slips.
