2-Day Workshop: Introductory Free Motion Machine Embroidery with Leisa Rich
Intensive explorations to transform surfaces with stitch and more!
Saturday November 4, 11 to 4 pm and Sunday November 5, 11 to 3 pm

Students of all skill levels will explore the exciting technique of Free Motion machine embroidery on various new and repurposed two-dimensional materials to achieve complex dimensional effects and excellent creative results. Using a sewing machine and an embroidery foot, and a variety of sewing threads, embroidery floss, elastics, dissolvable materials, heat transfers and more, you’ll turn common materials from flat to dimensional, smooth to textural, and dull to dynamic!
Maximum of 12 participants.
Registration fees include free fabric and notions from our Reuse Program to use during the workshop! Participants are encouraged to bring their own sewing machines so that they can familiarize themselves with their own machine’s settings. Other tools that participants need to provide include:
- embroidery foot to fit that machine
- selection of sewing threads
- attachments for the sewing machine (normal- brush to clean, etc.)
- sewing needles- list will be provided by instructor
- Any personal pieces of fabrics, lace, and other items you might want to include in your work
